Fitness enthusiast and reviewer from Barcelona

A Brief Snapshot

I am Lucia Garcia, based in Barcelona, and over the past several years I've chronicled my experiences at fitness clubs throughout Spain.

This site came into being after I grew tired of picking gyms by ads and hazy recommendations, only to find that the reality didn't match expectations. I wanted concrete, candid details about what these places were really like. When I couldn't find them, I chose to build this resource.

How This Started

My workout routine began at a small gym close to Passeig de Gràcia, Eixample in Barcelona. It wasn't flawless, yet it was reachable, affordable, and helped me stay consistent.

After that place shut down, I saw how rapidly the fitness landscape in Spain was changing. New clubs emerged, fresh concepts appeared, and marketing grew louder than actual member experience.

I began exploring different gyms and classes, jotting notes after each visit. Eventually those notes grew into this site, created to help others make better-informed choices.

My Review Philosophy

Each review here stems from actual visits and time spent inside the facility. I emphasize practical details that matter when selecting a membership.

When evaluating a fitness center, I usually:

  • Invest sufficient time to grasp routines, peak periods, and usage patterns
  • Visit across various days and times
  • Experiment with multiple training formats and coaches
  • Regularly use facilities to assess cleanliness and comfort
  • Speak with other members about what stays consistent and what doesn't
  • Note observations right after each visit

I revise reviews when significant changes occur: renovations, management shifts, price changes, or new facilities. Each piece shows its latest update date so you know how current the information remains.

What I Consider Most

My priorities may differ from yours, so here is what matters most to me when assessing a fitness center:

Comfort and Privacy: Does the space feel genuinely well-designed for members, with respectful boundaries and a calm atmosphere?

Equipment Quality: Are machines well-maintained? Is there enough variety? Do things get fixed promptly?

Crowd Management: Can you actually train during your preferred time without waiting constantly?

Clean Facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and equipment surfaces. Cleanliness shows how seriously management treats the member experience.

Honest Membership Practices: Clear pricing, clear rules, and no unpleasant surprises.

Outside the Gym

Beyond training and writing, I live and work in Barcelona. This project aims to simplify fitness choices and make them more transparent for those seeking the right setting.
